These are exciting times at United Medical Products!
As of December 20, 2019, the company is under new ownership. After 45 years in the medical distribution business, Dave Reiter has moved into retirement and I will be moving to Nashville to be with my family. Our goal is to have this change be seamless in the eyes of our customers. Because of that, I will remain living in Pittsburgh for the time being to ensure that the transition is smooth.
Jeff Shilling has taken ownership of the company and we could not be happier with Jeff as a successor. Decisions like this are once in a lifetime and we never thought that someone would fit the position as well as Jeff. His engineering and business backgrounds, in addition to his 17 years of experience in medical device distribution, are perfectly suited for a technology and capital equipment company where everything needs to be in sync with customer expectations.
The most important aspect of United Medical has always been the family atmosphere and that local connection to our hospitals. Jeff has strong family and business standards and has pledged to keep our roots firmly in place.
More great news is that we are expanding. The current United Medical service staff, office staff and sales team are all staying in place. PLUS, we have hired additional salespeople, service and IT/Networking technicians and sales support staff in the last 2 months while we’ve been working with Jeff toward the official hand off.
Throughout our history, United Medical has strived to represent superior quality products and to provide an unparalleled level of service. The Skytron and Nihon Kohden products have a strong presence in our market and continue to innovate in their industry categories. The recent addition of SLD Technology (high tech OR ceiling systems), Umano (patient beds) and Mobile Aspects (innovative solutions for patient safety) to our product offering, further demonstrates that representing top notch products and companies is extremely important to us. On the service side, we recognize that many more and more things in the hospital industry are heavily IT focused, and this is why we are expanding our scope of services in that direction. Hospitals can expect the same “on the spot” service with the additional Networking services that we will have in place soon.
Please welcome Jeff, our new employees, and our new product lines.
Finally, I’d like to thank you for the most satisfying career. I consider it an honor and a special privilege to have served our local hospitals for as long and successfully as we have, since 1974.
Have a Wonderful Holiday Season
